History 


Lounsbury Excavating, Inc. began in 1945 by Stuart Lounsbury providing an excavating and trucking service to a local community. Mike and Bill Lounsbury purchased the company from their father in 1980, and have built the company into a leader in the construction industry.

Lounsbury Excavating, Inc. has grown over the recent past and has secured a multi-million dollar corporate bonding capacity. We are, and will continue to be an integral team member of numerous commercial, industrial, and institutional projects as well as a prime contractor for residential community developments.

Our dedicated and well-trained field personnel are the true assets of the company. Each employee follows an implemented safety program and are also subject to a zero-tolerance random drug testing. On-site equipment and methods for training is provided and preventative maintenance training for all equipment and tools.

The focus of all members of the company team is to provide a quality product, safely and timely.

Quality Control


Lounsbury Excavating, Inc. investigates each project coming through the estimating department by means of state of the art computer software estimating systems. This software not only calculates exact volumes of material such as pipe, curb, and asphalt—it also has the ability to automatically balance a site work project by raising and lowering elevations. Print-outs provide the owner with three-dimensional views of the finished product so problem areas can be identified prior to any field work. This detailed advance work helps keep every project on time and on budget.

Michael Lounsbury - President

Having grown up with the family business, Mike Lounsbury now controls the business side of the company.  Watching over the entire company as General Manager Mike has developed the use of new technology in each department as well as the computer automation and GPS tracking of the field equipment. 

 

Willard (Bill) Lounsbury - Field Operations Manager

Also growing up with the family business, Bill manages the day-to-day field operations.  Coordinating and scheduling up to 35 employees and equipment on 10-15 different projects at any given time.  Bill has implemented the computer automation of the field equipment and provides the training of all operators.

 

Michael Hiestand - Vice President, Business Development

For the past twenty years, Mike has been involved in the construction industry working as a site foreman, estimator, and project manager covering all phases of building construction.  His current responsibilities include estimating and bidding new projects, purchasing, company marketing, as well as coordinating job-site management, overseeing the project management functions.

 

Michael L. Lounsbury - Project Manager

Old to the family, new to the company...this Mike Lounsbury has a degree in Business from Western Michigan University and has been a key in our success of implementing computerized scheduling, resource tracking and GPS training.  As a project manager, Mike provides hands-on problem solving with the field personnel and customer base.

 

Jeff Lounsbury - Field Operations

Our leading and highly talented operator, Jeff has made the leap to management by assisting the field with day to day operations and scheduling of manpower.  Jeff also works closely with the equipment maintenance and repair department.
